Hello, and welcome to the new website of the Friends of the Poor Clares. We are so very pleased with the work our webmaster, Tom Borawski did for us, and we hope you enjoy your web-visit with our friends.
So, what has been happening in our monastery these days? Several projects have been planned for this year and a few have already been completed. Thanks to your financial help through the Friends of the Poor Clares, work has been done on our internet availability so as to be able to install a wireless security camera system and are working on a wireless call bell system for our infirm sisters. Along with this, we discovered that our two furnace chimneys were in a bad state of deterioration, needing emergency attention. We now have two new ten-foot-high brick chimneys. I never thought a chimney could be so beautiful!
In a few months we hope to replace a cement walkway in the cloister garden to make it more wheelchair-friendly, and repair crumbled cement pads. The Friends are eager to help us, and we thank God for this, but it is you who are providing them with the funding so that we can continue to keep our monastic home a place of peace and prayer, where you can come and enjoy the Lord’s Eucharistic Presence, and know your prayers are being lifted up day and night before Him.
On August 2nd, we begin our daily novena in honor of our Holy Mother St. Clare to be held at our 7:30 p.m. Benediction services (Sundays 3:00 p.m.). This year we will be hosting the first ever tour of the Major Pilgrim relics of St. Clare and St. Francis with a presentation each day. These special relics are being brought to us by Rev. Joseph Marquis, Pastor of Sacred Heart Byzantine Church and All Saints Shrine in Livonia, Michigan (AllSaintsShrine.org). All are welcome to attend and present your needs to our Holy Mother St. Clare and our Father St. Francis, who always showed themselves so very devoted to our Lord's Eucharistic Presence. Please see our website for more information: www.pcc-cle.org. It is our joy to carry your joys and sorrows with us as each day we go before the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. Echoing our holy Mother Clare: "May Almighty God bless you, may He look upon you with the eyes of His mercy, and give you His peace."
Gratefully, we remember you before His Throne, Mother Dolores and all your Poor Clare sisters
